Piro Spice is a sculptural object that doubles as a countertop spice cabinet. The design, backed by a utility patent, allows the cook to access his or her spices easily, flipping open the cabinet and spinning, as needed. The bulk of the material is a pre-finished high-grade Baltic birch multiply that is intended to withstand rough handling (although you can also be gentle with it!).
- Before you purchase, make sure you have counter space available for it with no cabinets above.
- Piro Spice will hold about 25 of your favorite spices.
- 15"W x 8"D x 25"H.
- 30-day full refund policy - buyer pays for return shipping
- Free Shipping for destinations in contiguous 48 states and Washington DC!
The story behind Piro:
The original idea for Piro came from James' need to store, and make accessible, the CDs in his music collection - he already had solutions for the vinyl records and the cassette tapes. After a great deal of tinkering, he came up with a solution, and patented it - see U.S. patent 7,789,473. Alas, in the meanwhile Steve Jobs had come along and marketed the iPad, which put a massive dent in the CD storage business. Thus was born Piro Spice, hopefully useful for quite a while, as humans will continue to need food, and especially good tasting food, for many years to come.

Trina is a classic stool for your kitchen counter. It's offered in oak or cherry and stands 27 inches high. Through-tenons are secured with wedges (the oak stool uses oak wedges, while the cherry stool uses walnut wedges, for accent). The contoured seat offers comfort in several orientations while the legs, tapered at the ends and thicker in the middle, maximize strength and minimize weight. And with three legs, it never wobbles. Trina will provide a lifetime of style and function.
- Complements height of standard kitchen counter or island; too low for "bars."
- 30-day full refund policy - buyer pays for return shipping
- Free Shipping for destinations in 48 contiguous states and Washington D.C.!
The story behind Trina:
A couple years ago James was sharing a wood shop with Mike, and admired a couple of three-legged wooden stools with contoured seats that Mike had designed and built. By coincidence, James had recently moved into an apartment with a large kitchen island, and he needed stools so guests could sit comfortably at the island to chat, while dinner got made. With mid-century design sensibilities in mind, and desiring a high strength-to-weight ratio, Trina was the natural outcome. He still uses the stools in his kitchen today.

The story behind Floe:
A few years ago James needed a low-profile bookcase to fit under a pair of tall windows. He wanted to use as little material as possible for the upright members, while still providing strength, and realized this meant orienting the vertical pieces at 90 degrees to each other. And minimizing material meant that the vertical pieces would be narrower at the top and bottom and fatter in the middle. It turns out that the visual result of these engineering constraints is pleasing to the eye. That first bookcase needed to be so short that there was no room for legs. These got added in later iterations.
White Glove Delivery:
White glove means that the item is individually blanket wrapped, delivered to your home, and assembled if necessary. Our white glove shippers are independent contractors who create their own delivery schedules, with some destinations more frequently scheduled than others. While customers are not able to pick a day and time for delivery, we will try to accommodate your schedule. Someone must be present to receive the delivery. When placing your order, please note special instructions. The end user must be located within the contiguous 48 United States (or in Washington D.C.).
White Glove products are also often made-to-order, which takes time. So please allow between 4 and 10 weeks for delivery, depending on availability.
